Race Day Etiquette

🤝 Race Day Etiquette - Run Right, Run Respectfully

Let’s make Hexaware Dream Runners Half Marathon 2025 not just memorable but also mindful.
A smoother, safer, and more enjoyable experience for everyone begins with simple race etiquette.

🚦 Start Line Etiquette

  • Arrive early to the start line and give yourself enough time to warm up and settle in.

  • Carry some hydration and a quick snack to feel your best when the race begins.

  • Dispose of wrappers or bottles in the dustbins provided – not on the road.

  • Line up in the corral that suits your pace and your training level.

  • Don’t jostle or push when the countdown ends – everyone will get their moment.

🏃 Running Etiquette

  • Use the first 2 km as a warm-up; let the crowd thin naturally.

  • Avoid weaving or cutting through runners – it wastes energy and may cause accidents.

  • If you need to walk, slow down gradually and move to the side.

  • When passing someone, say “on your left/right” or “excuse me” to avoid surprises.

  • Cheer and encourage fellow runners, especially seniors, the differently abled, and race leaders.

  • Avoid walking in large groups that block the path for others.

  • Acknowledge and thank police officers and volunteers along the route.

  • Spot a photographer? Smile or strike a pose – your moment to shine!

🥤 Aid Station Etiquette

  • Approach aid stations calmly – avoid grabbing or pushing.

  • Water and nutrition are available throughout the station – move ahead if it’s crowded.

  • Dispose of all waste in the designated bins or trash areas.

  • Bring your own bottle and refill at the aid station – helps minimise plastic waste and supports our Run Green, Run Responsible theme.

  • If you’re running a 10K, consider carrying your own hydration or nutrition.

  • Thank the volunteers – they’re here because they care about your run.

🏁 Finish Line Etiquette

  • Look up and smile at the finish line cameras – capture that victory moment.

  • Once you cross the timing mat, keep moving to avoid blocking others behind you.

  • Pick up your medal and step aside before meeting friends or stretching.

  • Keep the finish zone clean – toss waste only in the bins provided.
