Race Management Team 2023
Suresh Bharathan
Erudite, well read and articulate, Suresh is the go-to guy, for an informed opinion and wise counsel on anything. Always of calm demeanour, with a smile he dons the race director’s cap for DRHM 2023. An ardent animal lover who spontaneously pitches in to foster any animal or bird he finds in distress.
From being an active sports enthusiast in school and college, life turned into a sedentary path during the middle years. In a bid to get back to fitness and healthy lifestyle, he took up running in 2012 and discovered a whole new world.
“Long distance running instills a great amount of self-belief and confidence. Personally, completing a full marathon was something I would not have believed possible when I started running some 10 years ago. Training and running events together helps improve the camaraderie among the group members, having fun while indulging in what is ultimately a very healthy past-time. This has been the mission for DRHM over the years and in 2023, we will continue to work towards improving the same. ”
Sindhu Raghavan
Brimming with ideas, boundless energy and infectious enthusiasm, Sindhu is the go getter every team wants on board. A marketing communications professional with over two decades of experience, Sindhu brings with her an experience of running many half marathons and knowledge on growing from strength to strength.
Transitioning from being a work-a-holic to motherhood, she took up running in 2014. The journey from never having run more than a few hundred meters to signing up for a maiden 10K at Pinkathon, was marked with newer learning points- ones filled with running terminologies and statistics. Fighting away rookie injuries, she signed up for structured training programs which rewarded her the highs of multiple sub 2 hour finishes in half marathons and brought out the strong runner in her.
“COVID shifted my perspective towards running. I no longer wanted to run with my eyes on the pace timer. I just wanted to run to enjoy the moment. The lockdown months saw me approach my runs with the same motto that I follow in every other aspect of my life- Always stick to the Brilliant Basics! And like life, the joy of running is not about the finish line but cherishing the distance we endure from start till finish.”
Sindhu strongly believes in engaging more women in a fitness regimen. It goes beyond using fitness as a ‘Me Time’ to realizing that we owe this to our body. Much as running is a discovery of oneself both emotionally and mentally, it is also one where we discover listening to our body.
Balancing work and an active and curious 10-year-old, Sindhu indulges in baking, binge watching East Asian Cinema and reading.
