One of the main running communities in Velachery neighborhood formed in 2016 during Dream Runners free training session. Few volunteers grouped together and started this chapter after the DRHM 2016 event. The chapter started with all first time runners and DRHM 2016 was their first ever 10K. Today the chapter has trained more than 75 runners (mostly first timers) and having more 35 active members today. The team has mix of long haul runners, Half Marathoners, Sprinters, Newbie’s and guided by an experienced coach with individual focus. The team has varied mix of professionals, retired veterans, businessmen and home makers with age group between young 25 and energetic 60
The team practices typically 5-6 days per week along with training and strengthening session for 3 days. The team usually groups together at 5 AM in front of Velachery MRTS for the sessions. Typically the session consists of warm-up, short running followed strengthening and cool down. The strengthening session consists of core strengthening, leg strengthening and stretching, hand workouts, weight training, circuit training etc… Running session includes interval run, intensity runs, aerobic runs, bridge runs, Time Trail etc
In 2018, Most of the team members clocked more than 1000 Kms of running and 9 from the team had completed 100 day challenge without injury and one veteran runner had completed 200 continuous days of running in 2018.
