The fourth Chapter for the DR Group, the Boat Club Dream Runners, brings in wholesome health and contentment to all its members. An enthusiastic group of individuals running for fun and fitness and chasing dreams. A chapter of the Dream Runners. And this is the first thing you notice about the Boat Club Dream Runners. A group that is not only about fitness but also the fun and the sense of belonging that comes with it.

 

The group has completed four years together. And along with the time you can see how the team has grown together as well. The beauty of the past four years since the inception of The Boat Club Dream Runners is the journey that the team has taken together. A journey that has seen the team through its ups and downs. Injuries and recoveries. Achieving milestones and earning feathers in the cap. This group has done it all.

The Motto: Stick to your schedule, respect your body, and the rest will fall in place.

The journey

BCD has grown tremendously over the past four years. Group fitness is a great way to help motivate yourself and others to dig deeper and push harder in workouts. This advantage can be seen at great lengths with the level of accomplishments of each and every individual in the group. Be it their debut marathon, medals and honors, or the simple goal of staying fit and healthy, each and every member of the team can be proud to say that they have reached their goal or are well on their way.

The members of the BCD are the life of the group. And we come from various walks of life. You name it, we have it. Doctors. Teachers. Police officials, IRS, CA’s and Finance consultants, Lawyers, Software Professionals, Bloggers/Content Writers, Event managers. And the most important of them all. Homemakers. The ones that help everyone at their homes get going.

And the bond that has been created between each and everyone is what gets us all going.

Why BCD

The take away from being part of a group like Dream Runners is that you know you are never alone. Be it at the beginning of the workout or at the finish line, there is always someone watching your back. Taking you along. Encouraging you. And ensuring that you are alright. And it works both ways. You reciprocate and feel like you belong.

Because, end of the day, that’s all we want. To Belong

The sessions

Each session is structured with a warm-up, balanced workout and a cool-down. While the warm-up is designed to raise your heart beats and loosen your joints and muscles; the cool down lowers your heart rate and stretch all the major muscles worked during the session.

The three axes of Fitness is not only acknowledged and appreciated but followed to the T. And the coaches who train the team ensure that the entire system is taken for of. It is definitely inspiring and motivating to be surrounded by dedicated and like-minded individuals. It doesn’t get much more empowering than a session with an encouraging instructor and supportive people all working hard together.

Strength: Strength training makes you stronger and fitter. With multiple activities such as jumping jacks, planks and squats, etc. designed to improve muscular fitness, the effect is wholesome.

Flexibility: Stretching may not be the most exciting part of working out, but doing flexibility work is just as crucial for a well-rounded fitness routine as strength and cardio work. Make workout safe and efficient with both static and dynamic stretching.

Endurance: BCD uses extensive methods including aerobic and anaerobic training to enhance the endurance of the team. Repetition training helps in improving running speed and running economy.

A little bit more about us

One of the first things that you would notice about us is the ratio between the men and the women. We are proud of the fact that not only do we have a fantastic number of women in our group, but many of them are also professionals who are dedicated to taking care of their health just as much as home and career. They have played a significant role in how we see ourselves as a fitness group and how far we have come concerning our achievements and records. The number of people who have progressed from 10K to half and from half to full marathons is awe-inspiring.

Full credit to the coaches and the assistance that we get from our senior and experienced runners because of whom we have faith and confidence in ourselves. The group dynamics, the incredible bond and the ability to push each other to keep going is the secret of our success.

Every workout gives us something unique. Every session lets us learn something more about ourselves. Be it a repetition of what we did or an assessment to understand ourselves – body, mind and soul

Our coaches

Our coaches, Vijay and Ganesh, have been with us long enough to understand both our strengths and where we need to improve. The fantastic individual attention that we tend to receive despite it being a big group is something that should be truly appreciated. The fact that these workout sessions are so much more fun than expected is also what makes us regular.
